Is my Posture Totally Wacked Out?

Why is the assessment an important foundation for my training?

Your everyday posture is constantly changing to meet the demands placed on the kinetic chain. The fitness assessment allows the personal trainer to observe your dynamic posture and determine what postural imbalances are evident and determine the best course of action for you.

Why would I have postural imbalances?

Postural imbalances happen while you are living life.
If you can relate to any of the following, you may have postural imbalances:

  • You have back pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle pain

  • You are an active person and have experienced some type of injury

  • You sit down for long periods of time

  • You wear high heels on a daily bases

  • You repeat the same movement patterns on regular bases

  • You've experienced tight muscles

  • You're core is not as strong as you would like it to be. A weak core contributes to poor stability, and inhibits proper limb movements, causing muscles imbalances in the kinetic chain.

How are my workouts affected by postural imbalances?

Postural imbalances limit functional movement; therefore, your body cannot properly execute an exercise that challenges specific joints and muscles. This means that you may not be getting the full benefit of your workout. If the integrity of your workout is challenged by your body's inability to properly execute an exercise you may be wasting your time and you are prone to more injury.
