BODY COMPOSITION
RULE #1

Don’t solely focus on the number on the scale. Let’s reframe how we see numbers that apply to our bodies. The scale, measurements, pictures; these are all tools that we use to guide the progression of our efforts and work.

 

RULE #2

Recognize that fast weight-loss is usually due to water and muscle loss, which we want to avoid.

 

RULE #3

Neither body weight or BMI can provide a realistic analysis of body composition. Why is that? 
When weight-loss is predominantly the result of losing lean muscle mass and not fat, the valuable, calorie-burning effect of muscle is lost. The result is a higher percentage of body fat and unhealthy body composition. BMI is also not a perfect measure because it does not directly assess body fat. Muscle and bone are denser than fat, so BMI can overestimate body fat in athletes with high bone density and muscle mass or underestimate it in older people who have low bone density and muscle mass. 


RULE #4

To avoid the discouraging phenomenon of losing weight and remaining unhealthy, we will look at all these numbers as guides but we will focus on the body fat percentage because it distinguishes fat from muscle and calculates the percentage of body fat in the body. This number is far more accurate than body weight and BMI alone.


RULE #5

Exercise is a must; it excels weight loss and enhances muscle mass which burns fat. We will create a systematic and progressive workout plan to help you reach the results you desire.


CONCLUSION

A healthy body composition can be achieved by emphasizing on a low-glycemic eating regiment, low-sugar consumption and combining both efforts with exercise increasing the ratio of muscle to fat.

Most weight loss programs tell you what to eat and how much to eat but often fall short as a lifetime solution because they fail to address the REASON why you may be overeating, underexercising, and/or making unhealthy choices.
